Project Background

Given the home’s seaside location, we had to account for high humidity, salt air, and corrosion risks. We chose well-sealed veneer with natural oil finishes over PU, as PU tends to crack with moisture-driven expansion and contraction. Natural oil is not only more flexible but also enhances the woodgrain’s natural beauty. Each veneer piece was carefully selected to ensure a consistent grain flow, and stabilizers were added behind door panels to minimize warping.

The home’s angled layout also posed design challenges, particularly in the wardrobe area where a protruding wall didn’t allow for standard 600mm depth. Instead, we incorporated a lateral pull-out hanger system to maximize storage. Despite varying wall depths, we aligned the wardrobe facade to maintain a clean, cohesive appearance

Project Details

This sea-facing condo in the heart of the CBD is designed as a warm and tranquil retreat for the homeowner’s return to their little nest, grounded by the use of natural materials—especially Veneer & solid oak in soft, warm tones.

Walking in and invited with a suspended shoe cabinet creatively mounted on a slanted foyer wall, a clean-lined veneered kitchen with a concealed pantry, and consistent rounded oak handles that unify the home’s design language.

A black-oiled oak French door with brass accents offers a subtle yet refined contrast, gracefully separating the living area from the private quarters. Beyond it lies a corridor lined with full-height wardrobes that neatly conceal the laundry and bathroom spaces.

The bathroom itself is elevated by a suspended Hinoki wood vanity with concave fluted details, offering both natural fragrance and a moment of quiet luxury within a muted grey palette.
